Lighting – More Than an Island
CEUs + Tabletop Vendor Show!

October 15, 2024
CYTO PHL
2929 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA 19104

Philadelphia’s very own lighting conference and tradeshow is back! On behalf of the IES and the entire local lighting & design community, we would like to ask for your support with this wonderful and exciting event.

This year’s theme is “Lighting- More Than an Island”. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily tasks ahead and forget just how much goes into a successful lighting project. From exploring site conditions, to conducting lighting studies, to implementing sophisticated controls systems – lighting is a whole lot more than a fixture schedule on a drawing. It goes through many stages and touches many hands. It’s a good reminder to take a moment and remember how we are all connected by lighting, no matter how small or large the project.

So grab your favorite Hawaiian shirt and join in on the lighting togetherness!

Seminars

Take Control! Using Control Intent Narratives and Sequences of Operation to Craft Specifications that Work
Shoshanna Segal Hartranft Lighting Design
1 CEU Credit
Controls can be difficult to navigate and often sound like a completely different language. However, controls play huge part of lighting in day-to-day operations and energy savings, and it is important as designers to understand integrating controls into their design. This presentation will review some of the basics of control systems as well as how to identify control specification information. It will also address when and how to write a control narrative to relay the intentions of the control system and will determine and the complexity of the control system components. With the narrative being the overall view, execution of the intent can be another hurdle. This seminar will include how to create a sequence of operations and how your lighting design will be programmed to operate.
